Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Booked!

Booked for Departure!

Did you know?

In May, my connecting flight to depart out of China was delayed. I saw the plane leave the boarding zone, while tears ran down my face from wanting to go home. Well, it turned out to be a special experience: I became a solo traveler (in a communist country).

My one eye half closed smile!

I stayed a single night in China on my own and had my insurance cover all of my food and accommodations. During my layover, I spent my time racking up a food and drink bill, which I enjoyed very much!

A solo female traveler came and sat at the table next to me. She was 2 years younger than me, traveling from Australia to Canada. She told me how she was checking things off of her buck list and the Northern Lights were one of them. The solo traveler told me all about how she grew up in Australia, showed me the most beautiful places to visit on her computer and all.

As my amazing adventure to China was near ending (in May), another adventure was presented to me unexpectedly. However, it was not until October that my interest for Australia had sparked!!

From flat Prairies to the Rocky Mountains. My first departure will take over 4 days to complete and will begin in Toronto. Taking the train across the 2nd biggest country in the world, Canada, via rail to Vancouver. This will be my first train ride ever.

Banff, Alberta

I will experience Canada's beauty east to west as I travel through Winnepeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Jasper along the way.

Arrive in Vancouver, spend a few days with friends. I am looking forward to touring around town, climbing a mountain, visit Whistler and visit the 2010 Olympic Winter Games Site.

Second departure, flying down the west coast to California. Los Angeles bound to learn to surf the pacific with an awesome friend. Excited to see the infamous "Hollywood" Hills sign, the Walk of Fame in Chinatown, and everything else in between. [Suggestions of things to see or do would be appreciated]

2 weeks later, depart to Fiji for a brief stop over. I heard the airport is small and would have the opportunity to view the small town of Nanji. [If any one has been please provide any suggestions]

Finally after 17 days of travel, I will reach my destination: Sydney, Australia! Did you know that Canberra is the capital of Australia? I didn't!
